Cambridge is a City on the River Cam in Eastern England, home to the prestigious University of Cambridge, founded in the 13th century, University colleges include King's, famed for its chapel and choir, Trinity, founded by Henry VIII, and St. John's, with its crenelated Great Gate. Cambridge has a population of over 120,000 which includes 24,488 students.
The station is one of the busiest in the East of England, and is currently being upgraded with a £4.25m investment programme which will make a positive difference for passengers, particularly as the number of people using the station grows.
A new Station Square is near completion and will provide a thriving heart to the area, whilst the adjacent CB1 redevelopment will provide a mix of offices, shops and residential accommodation. The full potential of CB1 is yet to be realised with further development opportunities in the pipeline. Interest in becoming part of this vibrant community remains high as a desirable place to live, work and spend leisure time continues to grow.
Cambridge Station a Grade II listed building, has seen significant increases of passengers over the last 10 years. The station is currently being refurbished due to overcrowding and to future proof the potential growth for the next 10 years.
The area around the station has seen massive development and is set to become a exciting and varied hub for people to visit as well as benefiting from the high footfall the station brings.
The Station as part of the redevelopment will have 2 new great spaces for catering on either side of the main entrance. Both will benefit from the fact that they are located on the main walkways into the station and provide an excellent opportunity to serve the travelling public, workers, tourists and the local residents.
