We asked customers what they wanted then put their feedback in to our plans. Check out some of the great improvements we’re making to the railway.

More space

Our improved carriages have more space and more seats.

Better Wi-Fi and plug points

Our new trains come with free Wi-Fi, USB ports and plug sockets as standard.

Stylish First-Class Accommodation

A sleek and modern upgrade. First Class is exclusive to our Norwich to London intercity trains.

Information Screens

Glance up at our new information screens in every carriage to find out where there are more seats, which toilets are free, station arrival times and onwards travel details.

Ventilation

We have air conditioning which sucks in fresh air every six to nine minutes, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter.

Accessibility Improvements

We have low floors and a bespoke retractable step on our intercity, Stansted Express and regional trains making it easier to get wheelchairs, pushchairs and luggage on and off our trains.

All our new trains have spacious wheelchair spaces which are clearly signposted on the outside of the train with a blue stripe on the side of the carriage. And inside you’ll find an accessible toilet and seating area with room for friends and family.

Dedicated cycle spaces

Our new trains have dedicated bike spaces for full size bikes – look for the green stripe on the side of the carriage to see where to get on. Remember you need to book a bike space in advance if you’re taking a full size bike on our intercity trains.
