Ramblers in Norfolk and Suffolk can take advantage of free guided walks when they take the train as the Bittern Line and Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnerships launch a series of guided walks from rail stations.

People can stick to their New Year’s resolutions to stay healthy by joining the walks, which are free to train ticket holders and will be held on Sundays throughout the year.

All walks start from a Greater Anglia station with the first taking place on Sunday 21 January in Haddiscoe.

The walks, via quiet country lanes, woodlands, broads, pretty villages and North Norfolk’s spectacular coast line, take place throughout the year and depart from stations including Buckenham, Brundall, Roughton Road, Haddiscoe, Sheringham and Somerleyton, cover between three and seven miles each. Dogs are welcome on the walks and on Greater Anglia services.

Paul Haynes, Greater Anglia’s Community Rail Partnerships Manager, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to stay healthy, get some fresh air and explore Norfolk and Suffolk. We are very grateful to the Bittern and Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnerships for organising these events.”
