As things stand, we are currently running a near full timetable and the length of our trains are almost back to normal. However, as we are experiencing lower passenger numbers, our trains have become quieter than normal. As a result it is now even easier for passengers to social distance.
There are no seat reservations on our trains.
Passengers should spread out throughout the carriage, and keep a safe distance away from those who are not members of their family or in the same bubble.
Constant announcements and pre-departure messages on trains and stations will remind passengers to social distance.
It is mandatory for all passengers on trains and stations to wear a face covering/mask unless they are exempt. These exemptions apply to children under the age of 11 & People who have a disability that prevents them from being able to put on or remove face coverings.
Face coverings can be removed temporarily to eat or drink on trains.
£600,000 has been invested into extra cleaners and cleaning equipment such as:
- Fogging guns (used to sanitise and disinfect large areas)
- Powerful vacuum cleaners (clean the air as well as the floor/upholstery)
- Hygiene monitoring equipment (to make sure our cleaning is as effective and efficient as possible)
- Soap, water and free hand sanitizers at all stations.
We are increasing cleaning and paying attention to high touch areas on our vehicles. When necessary, we are creating a ‘bubble’ around our drivers in order to reduce their own risk and the risk of all passengers on the train. In some cases, operators have even installed clear barriers to reduce risk.
All travellers are required to wear face coverings on rail replacement or risk being fined.
Despite lower passenger loadings standby levels have been maintained and, in some areas, increased to provide additional social distancing capacity.
