Rail passengers using Billericay and Rochford rail stations are benefiting from better access and refurbished waiting rooms, thanks to an improvement scheme completed by Greater Anglia.

The Customer Information Room at Rochford station’s entrance now features a wider doorway and push-button automatic doors to both the entrance to the ticket office and entrance onto the platform, to ensure that everyone can access it easily. It has also received new flooring.

At the same time, officers from the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership repainted the station’s waiting room and put up posters at both stations to create a more welcoming look.

Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership Officer, Lynda Stone, commented: “I am delighted with the look of the new waiting room which is now much more pleasant and grateful to Greater Anglia for improving the access to the Customer Information Room which will really help people in wheelchairs, with pushchairs and luggage and those with mobility issues.”

It has also received a new coat of paint, as well as having air conditioning and phone and laptop charging points installed.

Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, said, “Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and making it easier for everyone to access our services.”
