Wickford rail station is looking smarter and cleaner, after deep cleaning was carried out by the region’s train operator, Abellio Greater Anglia.

Cleaners descended on the station on Monday 5th and Wednesday 7th May to thoroughly clean the waiting rooms and toilets, clean the windows and give the booking hall a fresh coat of paint in the Abellio Greater Anglia colours, as well as erecting smart new signage.

Every rail station on the Southend Victoria to Shenfield line will receive similar attention over the coming year, with Rayleigh the next to benefit. Shenfield and Billericay are already complete.

The deep cleans help to bring the stations up to the high standard expected by customers with teams of cleaners descending on the station to thoroughly clean all waiting rooms, floors, toilets and sanitary ware and remove litter and disused items from all areas of the station.

The entire programme is expected to be completed by the beginning of next year.

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, Dave Cameron, said, “I hope that customers will notice a real improvement to the station environment as our enhanced cleaning regime brings results.”
