MP Ben Gummer will visit Ipswich rail station on Thursday to present the Abellio Greater Anglia station team with a ‘Secure Station’ award.
The Abellio Greater Anglia East Area team has achieved reaccreditation of the ‘Secure Status’ for Diss, Stowmarket, Ipswich and Harwich International rail stations.

The national awards scheme recognises good practice where train operators have worked in partnership with the British Transport Police and other partners in implementing security measures at stations, taking into account areas such as station design, management practices, security and passenger safety.

The Secure Stations Scheme is directed by the Department for Transport and the British Transport Police.

Mr Gummer will call in to Ipswich station at 3pm on Thursday 20th November to present staff at Ipswich with their Award.

Mr Gummer commented: "I am really pleased to present this latest award win by the superb team at Ipswich Station. Station safety is important to everyone, especially those arriving or leaving late at night or first thing in the morning. It is great that the staff at Ipswich Station have thought about how to improve safety with such rigour and, as a result, receive this award."

Andrew Goodrum, Abellio Greater Anglia's Customer Services Director said: ‘I should like to thank the team for their efforts in successfully receiving reaccreditation under the Secure Stations Scheme, and for the support and guidance of British Transport Police in working with Abellio Greater Anglia on this achievement.”
