Abellio Greater Anglia employee, Colin Martin, has been nominated for a rail industry award for his tireless fundraising efforts for charity, Help for Heroes.

Over the last four years Colin has raised over £25,000 for Help for Heroes after his friend, Corporal Joshua Boggi, who is now a triple amputee and Help for Heroes ambassador, was wounded in action.

Colin is part of Greater Anglia’s Customer Service team and he is a familiar face at Colchester and Chelmsford stations in Essex.

A recent Golf Day organised by Colin raised an amazing £7709 for the charity, leading to his nomination for the David Maidment Award for Charity at this year’s RailStaff Awards.

The Railstaff Awards recognises and celebrates the courage, bravery and professionalism of the people who deliver the railway.

Abellio Greater Anglia employees have received a total of 10 nominations this year.

The winner of the David Maidment Award for Charity will be announced at a ceremony to be held on Saturday 25th October in Warwickshire.
