Work to improve Hertford East rail station is now complete thanks to a partnership between Abellio Greater Anglia, the Railway Heritage Trust and Hertfordshire County Council.

MP Mark Prisk and Derrick Ashley from Hertfordshire County Council will meet representatives of Abellio Greater Anglia on Tuesday 29th September at 11am to view the improvements and will then cut a ribbon at the station entrance at 11.20am to officially mark the completion of the work.

The £65K project included the restoration of the exterior of the Grade II listed building, as well as more cycle racks and improved netting of the concourse and platforms to deter pigeons.

The Railway Heritage Trust provided funding for the restoration of the station buildings which saw the exterior brickwork cleaned and restored, old signage removed and electrical cables tidied.

A grant from Hertfordshire County Council funded a transport integration project which includes new cycle racks and additional seating for customers.

The restoration works were followed by a deep clean of the entire station.
