Rail passengers using Enfield Town station are benefiting from a better waiting environment thanks to a £150K improvement scheme carried out by Abellio Greater Anglia.

Work has been carried out to refurbish the roofing and fascias at the station, improving the station’s atmosphere and appearance.

Roller shutters have also been installed in the booking hall to improve security and the entire station has received a deep clean using a trailer-mounted high pressure hot water Dibo steam cleaning machine to remove grime, gum and litter and clean all waiting rooms, glazing and toilet facilities.

Anti-slip flooring and ramps have also been installed on the station concourse, and handrails installed on all platforms access ramps to make the station more accessible to passengers with mobility issues and bring the station up to the standards required by the Disability Discrimination Act.

The work was funded by the National Stations Improvement Programme (NSIP) and Access for All.

Phil Sargent, Area Customer Service Manager, said, “I look forward to welcoming customers to an improved station now that the works to the access improvements, roofing, fascias and deep clean are complete. Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Abellio Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers.”
