Greater Anglia’s Jennie Alford, who is a familiar face at Bishop’s Stortford station, recently shaved her hair off for charity.

Charity Champion Jennie, made the brave move in order to raise funds for the St Clare Hospice, Hastingwood, Essex .

Jennie’s long hair was first plaited, cut and then shaved by her best friend Wendy Ringsel, who had travelled all the way from Wales for the event.

The sponsored haircut raised an amazing £2000 for the hospice; in addition Jennie’s hair, which was 26 inches long, was donated to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have suffered hair loss following cancer treatment.

Kevin Walton Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager said: “Jennie is an outstanding example to us all, her humanity and selflessness is second to none. I’d like to thank our customers and staff at Bishop's Stortford station who supported Jennie on the day and helped raise funds for the St Clare Hospice.”
