More than 2,000 square metres of tarmac has been laid across the Greater Anglia network – enough to cover eight tennis courts.
From car parks to platforms, the train operator has spent more than £300,000 in upgrades since the start of the year.
Work includes resurfacing platforms, car parks and tarmacking access roads leading to some stations.
Work has been carried out at Diss, Norwich, Frinton-on Sea, Hockley, Wickham Market, Kelvedon, Audley End, Dovercourt, North Fambridge, Brandon, Colchester Town, Burnham-on-Crouch, Salhouse, Oulton Broad North, Lowestoft, Althorne, Battlesbridge, March, Harlow Town, St Margaret’s, South Woodham Ferrers, Sudbury and Derby Road.
Some of the improvement work also includes installing new fencing at some stations.
Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, said: “We manage 133 stations, which means we have to carry out a lot of ongoing maintenance work. We do our best to make sure the stations look as smart as possible. By investing in tarmacking certain areas, it has helped to make the stations safer.
“We want our stations to be bright and welcoming places, so we will continue with our plans to repaint and deep clean every station on our network.”
