Charities across the region benefited from donations from Greater Anglia last year after the company’s staff nominated them to receive cash.

In total over £5,000 was shared between 20 charities under Greater Anglia’s Corporate Donation Scheme, Staff Survey and HQ dress down days.

Greater Anglia’s Corporate Donation Scheme allows staff to nominate good causes close to their hearts with money being given out monthly. In addition, for every member of staff who answers the train operator’s annual staff survey, £1 is donated to charity.

Greater Anglia’s Managing Director, Jamie Burles, said, “We’re pleased to be able to give back to the communities and people we serve, as well as giving staff the opportunity to tell us which charities they feel should benefit, so that we can ensure that the money is going to causes close to their hearts.”

Charities to have benefited in 2019 included Alzheimer’s Society, Animal Health Trust, Beds & Herts Historic Churches Trust, Bowel Cancer UK, Cambridge Soccer School, Children in Need, Eight Ash Green Youth FC, First Step, Great Ormond Street, Greenland Grove Animal Sanctuary, Guide Dogs, Inspire Suffolk, Macmillan, MND Association, National Autistic Society, Railway Benefit Fund, Samaritans, Solving Kids’ Cancer and the St Helena Hospice
