At Greater Anglia, we are committed to stocking local food and drink at our café bars, where possible and practical. We’ve teamed up with Lacons brewery , based on the east coast, to exclusively stock Quell IPA in 330ml cans on board our Intercity Services. We are very proud to champion the wonderful local produce on our doorstep in East Anglia.

Lacons has a rich heritage and you have been brewing on the East Coast since 1760. Why is it important for you to find exclusive stockists in Norfolk/Suffolk?

Known as ‘The Great Yarmouth Brewer,’ we’re incredibly proud of our heritage and love to keep true to our roots in and around the seaside town. We’ve built a strong relationship with the local community and are committed to preserving our brand’s legacy, which isn’t only important to us but also for the people of Great Yarmouth and Norfolk, too.

Quell is sold exclusively in 330ml cans on Greater Anglia services. Why does this particular drink appeal to beer lovers?

Quell is bursting with flavour and offers something different and exciting as it’s not quite a traditional bitter or lager, it’s a modern American IPA. It’s made using punchy U.S. hops including Amarillo, Cascade and Mosaic which gives it a delicious taste.

Where is Quell brewed and what does the process involve?

Quell is crafted at our Falcon Brewery in Great Yarmouth by our Head Brewer, Wil Wood and his fantastic team. Using traditional brewing methods, Quell is then cooled and carbonated in the conditioning tank at the end of the process to give it fizz.

Lacons will be holding free Quell tasting sessions on board Greater Anglia trains on Thursday 9 February (Liverpool Street to Norwich services 17.30, 17.50 and 18.10). You can also sample a sip at the National Winter Ales Festival in Norwich from 21-25 February, where Lacons will be one of just four breweries with their own bar.
