Visitors to the East Anglian Railway Museum at Chappel & Wakes Colne railway station are invited to take a nostalgic step back in time this summer when the annual 1940s vintage tea dance takes place.

On Sunday 6 August, Fox, Wiggle & Sass will be serving up a combination of great wartime songs with attitude in the Victorian Goods shed, where there will be dancing and live music.

Marketing Manager Catherine Harrison said: "Pretend you’re a London youngster, evacuated to rural Essex with our real life formidable class teacher in a mock-up classroom. There’ll be rifle drills, ‘make do and mend’ demos, steam train rides all day long and if you’re lucky, we just might dust off the Pump Trolley!

"As well as delicious afternoon teas, served in a vintage first class carriage, there’ll be Swing Jive workshops so you can learn a few steps or a perhaps the Charleston Stroll….great fun for young and old!"

The hugely popular, TASTER FOR A TENNER will be running where you can try your hand at driving a diesel locomotive for just £10.

The miniature pub (possibly the smallest pub in Essex) will be open, serving real ale from the Colchester Brewery.
