Advice for football fans travelling by rail to Spurs v Brighton & Hove Albion

Train operator Greater Anglia has issued advice for football fans travelling to watch the Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton & Hove Albion football match this weekend, including confirmation of extra stops at Northumberland Park station and which carriages to use on the longest trains.

The match will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 15.00 on Saturday 8 April.

Trains will run with the maximum number of carriages available, and on 10-carriage trains passengers travelling to Northumberland Park should board the front seven carriages only. Doors on the rear three carriages will not open at Northumberland Park station.

Extra staff will be on hand to help at stations along the route, including Harlow Town, Cheshunt and Broxbourne.

Before the match, 45 services will make additional stops at Northumberland Park station, to help football fans travel to the game. The following services will be 10 carriages long and customers for Northumberland Park should use the front 7 only:

  • 11.55 London Liverpool Street – Cambridge
  • 12.55 London Liverpool Street – Cambridge
  • 13.10 London Liverpool Street – Hertford East
  • 13.40 London Liverpool Street – Hertford East
  • 14.25 London Liverpool Street – Cambridge
  • 11.20 Cambridge – London Liverpool Street
  • 12.09 Hertford East – London Liverpool Street
  • 12.39 Hertford East – London Liverpool Street
  • 13.03 Cambridge – London Liverpool Street
  • 13.20 Cambridge – London Liverpool Street
  • 14.09 Hertford East – London Liverpool Street

After the match, queueing systems will be in place at Northumberland Park and Tottenham Hale stations to ensure everyone can safely access the station and board the train.

A further 58 services will make additional stops at Northumberland Park after the match. The following services will be 10 carriages long and customers should board the front 7 carriages only:

Pete Mellar, Area Customer Service Manager, Greater Anglia, said: “This game will be very popular, and so customers are advised to check before they travel and expect to queue after the match.

“Our new trains are longer and have more seats. However, we would ask everyone to be patient while boarding as we are expecting higher than usual passenger numbers on these services. Once on the train, we would encourage passengers to move down the aisle and use all the space available.

“To save time, passengers are advised to buy tickets online or via the Greater Anglia app before they travel. Groups of three of more people can save a third on fares with GroupSave.”
