Customers travelling to and from Saxmundham are being advised to familiarise themselves with changes to the rail replacement bus stop during some weekends this spring.

Rail replacement buses are unable to access the station car park over the following weekends due to both level crossings being closed:

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April (rail replacement buses will run between Lowestoft and Ipswich)

Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April (rail replacement buses will run between Lowestoft and Ipswich)

Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April (rail replacement buses will run between Halesworth and Ipswich)

Sunday 26 and Bank Holiday Monday 27 May (rail replacement buses will run between Lowestoft and Ipswich)

Rail replacement buses will depart from the bus stop on the B1121, opposite Patmore Water Softeners building, instead of the railway station car park.

The revised bus stop is a five-minute walk from the railway station. Customers are reminded that bicycles and e-scooters are not allowed on rail replacement buses.

Network Rail will be undertaking essential maintenance and track renewal work during the closures. Part of the car park will also be partially closed while the work takes place on 20/21 and 27/28 April.

James Reeve, Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, said:

“We are sorry that customers will have a slightly longer walk to rail replacement bus services over these weekends.

“Customers should check before they travel and allow more time for their journeys.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank customers for their understanding.”
