Abellio Greater Anglia has invested £500K in improvements to Harlow Town Station.

The train operator’s ‘Rewire, Relight’ project has seen every lighting unit in the station buildings and on platforms and stairwells replaced with a more energy-efficient one.

A complete rewiring of the station means that the train operator has also been able to install variable controls and automatic settings for the lighting, helping to reduce electricity consumption and improve energy-efficiency.

New, more efficient heaters and air conditioning units have also been installed to further reduce the station’s carbon footprint.

In addition, platform and canopy repairs have been carried out to improve the station environment.

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, Kevin Walton, said, “I am delighted that the works at Harlow Town are almost complete, creating a more energy efficient station and improving the station ambience and environment for passengers.”
