Rail engineering works on the Sheringham line for the next two weekends have been cancelled – so passengers will be able to catch trains instead of the buses which had been advertised.

Customers are advised to check before they travel, as the train times are different from the rail replacement bus timetable.

Network Rail was planning to carry out work on the weekends of 20/21 and 27/28 October as part of improvements to the Sheringham line. The first phase has been finished ahead of schedule so these two weekends are no longer needed.

The usual weekend service from Norwich to Sheringham will now run.

Customers can check train times on the Greater Anglia website or app.

Martin Moran, Greater Anglia Commercial and Customer Services Director said: “We want to make sure customers know that they can now travel by train instead of the advertised bus service if they’re planning weekend trips to Sheringham in the next fortnight.

“As ever, we advise customers to check before they travel for details of arrival, departure and journey times.”

Meliha Duymaz, Network Rail’s route managing director for Anglia, said: “The work planned for the Sheringham line has been completed ahead of schedule, so the remaining closures have been cancelled.

“The next phase of work takes place on Sundays only starting in November and we advise that passengers check before they travel.”

The project is due to continue on Sunday 4, 18 and 25 November and Sunday 2 December.
