Greater Anglia customers and staff at Cambridge North station have donated more than 200 chocolate treats to sick children at Addenbrooke’s Hospital to help put a smile on their face this Easter.

The donations, which were open for six weeks, included some Easter crafts of painting eggs, finger painting supplies, and nest and hat-making kits, were all handed over to staff at the Cambridge hospital on Tuesday, 26 March.

The eggs were kindly donated by businesses local to Cambridge North station, along with customers and staff.

It was organised by Lynda Mason and Georgina Robinson, who both work as Welcome Hosts at the station.

Lynda Mason said:

“We are always blown away by our customers and colleagues, who are always so generous with their donations of Easter eggs and chocolates.

“The nursing staff at the hospital were so grateful and we hope that it puts a smile on the faces of everyone at the paediatric accident and emergency department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital this Easter time."

Georgina Robinson said:

“The numbers of donations just kept getting bigger by the day - I’d like to give a huge thank you to everyone involved in making the event such a success through their kindness and generosity.”

Sophie Barber, Addenbrooke’s Paediatric Emergency Department health play specialist, said:

“Being away from home at Easter is always a difficult time for our young patients so we are very grateful to Greater Anglia for these wonderful gifts. Surprise Easter eggs always create a lot of smiles!”

It is one of two donations that Greater Anglia has completed this year: more than 600 eggs were donated in just six weeks from customers and staff to Harlow’s Princess Alexandra Hospital, being handed over on Wednesday, 27 March.
