Greater Anglia customers between Harlow and Stansted can help give poorly children in hospital a reason to smile at Easter by donating chocolate treats.

Travellers passing through Stansted Mountfitchet, Bishop’s Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Harlow Mill, and Harlow Town stations will all be able to drop their chocolate treats off at the ticket offices between Sunday 4 February and Sunday 24 March.

A poster at each of the stations will also advertise the event.

The eggs and any other goodies will be given to the children’s ward at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

A raffle will also be organised, with proceeds going towards buying activity sets for the children.

The scheme is the work of Michael King, who works as a relief ticket office clerk at Sawbridgeworth and Stansted Mountfitchet stations and first began appealing for donations in 2020.

Michael said: “We are always so very grateful for whatever donations our customers and colleagues can give us. Since we started in 2020, it has grown and grown – it is always an amazing sight to see how many eggs we have after all the donations are in.

“If you’re passing through any of the five stations, any Easter eggs, activity packs or other treats that you think children will like will be gratefully appreciated. We would like to thank customers for their generosity.”

In 2023, almost 400 eggs were donated by customers in the area.
