New heritage-style signage has been installed at Trimley station to enhance the appearance of the Suffolk station.
The four new signs have been funded by the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership (ESL CRP) and produced in Eastern Region Blue to evoke a heritage look at the station on the Ipswich – Felixstowe line.
Aaron Taffera, Chair of the ESL CRP said:
“The new signs look smart and welcoming. We hope people will be encouraged to hop off here and explore the lovely Suffolk countryside.
“There is a nature reserve nearby or people can take our self-guided walk which is available on our website.”
The new signage follows recent improvements by Greater Anglia to renovate the footbridge and install new lighting to the station platform and car-park.
Greater Anglia invested over £1.2 million in a complete refurbishment of the bridge, which included repairing and strengthening steel structures and installing new stair treads and decking.
New, brightly painted handrails with lighting were also installed, along with a new non-slip floor surface to improve passenger safety when going up or down the steps.
At the same time, the height of the bridge parapet was also raised as an additional safety measure.
Re-wiring of the station was also carried out, with new lighting columns installed on the station approach.
