Abellio Greater Anglia has commenced the first phase of a package of improvements planned for Ingatestone rail station.

Work started this weekend to upgrade platform 2, including spot replacement of damaged copers (slabs at the platform edge) and tactiles (the contoured slabs next to the copers which warn passengers both visually and by their texture of approach to the edge of the platform), drainage improvements and platform re-surfacing.

Similar work is also due to be carried out on platform 1 over the coming months and both platforms will be widened in places.

Further improvements planned include: restoration of the station house, canopy repairs, repairs to station buildings, electrical improvements, upgrades to the customer toilet facilities and refurbishment of the footbridge.

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, Simi Tinubu, said, “This significant programme of work at Ingatestone station will result in a safer, smarter and more pleasant station environment for our customers. Abellio Greater Anglia is committed to upgrading stations across the network to make customers’ journeys better.”
