Commuters across East Anglia have been sharing the love this Valentine’s Day after local train operator Greater Anglia dished out love-themed treats.

Passengers at a number of stations across the Greater Anglia network were treated to free Valentine’s cupcakes.

Photos were shared across social networking using the hashtag #sharetheGAlove with one passengers tweeting: “I think I just had the best commute of my life…people genuinely couldn’t believe that they were being given something for free no strings attached!” and another said “Your driver on the 06.18 from Witham is amazing. He just wished everyone a happy Valentine’s Day, gave us a weather forecast and wished us all a lovely day. Made a lot of people smile including me.”

Andrew Goodrum, Greater Anglia’s Customer Service Director, said: “We carry out a number of customer service initiatives throughout the year, including Valentine’s Day cupcakes, Christmas cookies and ice creams during the summer. It’s to thank passengers for their custom and let them know that our staff are always here to help make life a little easier while travelling with us. We have received a lot of positive feedback from our customers and we are pleased they are enjoying their treats.”

12,000 cupcakes will be given away at stations including Broxbourne, Harlow Town, Audley End, Cambridge, Shenfield, Chelmsford, Ipswich and Norwich.
