Work will start in the New Year to upgrade the waiting shelter at Roydon station.

Greater Anglia will remove the existing shelter, which is built on raised concrete, to enable the area to be levelled and a new shelter installed - which will then benefit from step-free access and CCTV.

The work is due to start at the beginning of February 2024 and is expected to be completed in March.

The new shelter will be partially enclosed, to help protect people from the elements as they wait for trains.

During this period there will be no shelter available to passengers on the platform, but Greater Anglia plans to complete the works as quickly as possible to help minimise inconvenience to passengers.

Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, Simone Bailey, said:

“We are pleased to be upgrading the waiting shelter at Roydon to improve the facilities for station users and to create a step-free waiting area that is more easily accessible to everyone.

“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service standards for our customers.”

“We apologise for any inconvenience while this work is carried out.”
