Key highlights
- Additional weekday evening peak services from London to Southend, Southminster, Witham and Ipswich
- Faster journey times between Norwich and London, with most off-peak services timed for 1 hour 47 minutes
- 08.00 Norwich to London and 17.00 London to Norwich services will be under 1 hour 40 minutes
- Off-peak Clacton to London services will call at Hythe – offering better links for the University of Essex
- Additional services on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays between Norwich and Great Yarmouth in the busy summer period
- Additional Sunday morning services between Ipswich and Peterborough in the busy summer period
The key changes for some of our main stations are summarised below. There may be other changes to our timetables, including changes in arrival and departure times and stopping patterns at stations not listed below. Please check your journey before you travel.
Additional weekday evening peak services
There will be six additional weekday evening peak train services departing London Liverpool Street:
- 16.22 and 17.45 to Southend Victoria
- 17.06 and 18.20 to Witham
- 17.14 to Southminster
- 17.47 to Ipswich
The additional services departures from Stratford will be:
- 16.32 and 17.53 to Southend Victoria
- 17.14 and 18.29 to Witham
- 17.22 to Southminster
- 17.56 to Ipswich
Some mainline/branch line departure and arrival times will slightly change, please check before you travel.
Chelmsford
Improvements to weekday evening peak services from Stratford to Chelmsford will see trains departing Stratford approximately every 10 minutes.
These departures will be as follows:

The stopping pattern of the Norwich – London Intercity services at Chelmsford on Mondays to Saturdays will change.
The weekday daytime Intercity departures from Chelmsford to London will be as follows: 06.18, 09.47, 10.48, 11.48, 12.48, 13.48, 14.48, 15.48, 16.19, 16.48, 17.21, 17.48, 18.48, 19.49, 22.21, 23.23.
Intercity departures from Chelmsford to Norwich will be as follows: 06.28, 06.56, 07.28, 08.30, 09.28, 10.28, 11.28, 12.28, 13.28, 14.28, 15.28, 20.28, 23.00, 23.59.
Norwich – London Intercity services
On Mondays to Saturdays, there will be faster journey times between Norwich and London, with most off-peak services timed for 1 hour 47 minutes.
On weekdays the 08.03 Norwich to London service will depart at 08.00 and the 17.50 London Liverpool Street will depart at 18.00.
On weekdays, the 08.00 from Norwich to London and 17.00 from London to Norwich services will be even quicker with journey times under 1 hour 40 minutes.
A small number of Intercity trains are scheduled to operate without any First Class seating, some of which change with the new timetable. Find out more.
Please note that the above Intercity changes will also affect intermediate stations on the line of route, this includes Diss, Stowmarket, Ipswich, Manningtree, Colchester, Chelmsford and Stratford.
Hythe
During off-peak hours, train services between Clacton-on-Sea and London will additionally stop at Hythe, offering better links for the University of Essex. Check online for train schedules.
Harwich branch line
Some weekday morning peak services between Harwich and Manningtree will change to offer better connections to mainline trains.

There are also changes to evening services, with some trains departing earlier than in the current timetable. Key alterations have been summarised below, but please check times online for your journey.
Manningtree
- 06.30 Liverpool Street to Harwich Town will no longer call at Mistley and Wrabness.
- 09.59-16.59 Manningtree to Harwich Town train services depart on the hour, 10.00 to 17.00
- 17.50 Colchester to Harwich Town will now depart at 17.47. Departs Manningtree at 17.56.
- 18.59 Manningtree to Harwich Town will now depart at 18.37.
- 19.07 Manningtree to Harwich Town additional weekday service.
- 18.45 Liverpool Street to Harwich International will now depart at 19.36, arrives 20.59. Departs Manningtree 20.45.
- 21.02 Liverpool Street to Harwich International will now depart at 20.36, arrives 21.59. Departs Manningtree 21.45.
Harwich Town
- 18.27 Harwich Town to Manningtree will now depart at 18.26.
- 19.28 Harwich Town to Manningtree will now depart at 19.10.
- 19.45 Harwich Town to Manningtree additional service.
- 20.28 Harwich Town to Manningtree will now depart at 20.26.
- 21.28 Harwich Town to Manningtree will now depart at 21.27.
- 22.28 Harwich Town to Manningtree will now depart at 22.26.

Other changes
Ipswich
Most off peak, daytime Monday to Saturday train services from Ipswich to Cambridge will depart at 20 minutes past the hour (1 minute earlier than before).
Most off peak, daytime Monday to Saturday train services from Cambridge to Ipswich will depart at 46 minutes past the hour (1 minute earlier than before).
Southend Victoria
Most Monday to Saturday daytime, off peak train services from Southend Victoria to London Liverpool Street will depart at 11, 31 and 51 minutes past the hour (1 minute later than before).
Most Monday to Saturday daytime, off peak train services from London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria will depart at 13, 33 and 50 minutes past the hour (all slightly earlier than before).
Wickford
Most Monday to Saturday daytime, off peak train services from Wickford to Southminster will depart 1 minute earlier than before.
Most Monday to Saturday daytime, off peak train services from Southminster to Wickford will depart 3 minutes earlier than before.
Some morning and evening peak departure times will also change.
Southminster
Most Monday to Saturday daytime, off peak services from Southminster to Wickford will depart 3 minutes earlier than before.
