Greater Anglia is installing new lighting within the car park, adding three electric vehicle charging points, and creating an additional 26 new blue badge parking bays near the station entrance.

The work commences on Monday 18 September and will see some of the existing car park closed in the area where the new accessible bays will be located.

There will continue to be plenty of standard parking bays available in the 580-space car park, and blue badge parking bays, cycle parking and bus and taxi access will also still be available throughout the works.

An alternative accessible route from the car park to the station platforms and ticket office will be provided.

The work is expected to take around 9 weeks, with completion later in the autumn.

The project is consistent with Equality legislation, with accessible parking spaces that are clearly defined, the correct number of accessible spaces for the size of the car park, and appropriate distances maintained between vehicles in the accessible bays.

Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, Simone Bailey, said,

“We are pleased to be upgrading the car park at Audley End to improve the facilities for station users.

“The car park will remain open while we carry out this work and there will still be plenty of parking available, keeping inconvenience to passengers to a minimum.

“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service standards for our customers.”
