Whether you’re travelling for business or pleasure, First Class could give you the space and comfort you’re looking for.
Relax with the extra leg room or use your journey to catch up on work. Either way, the space in Greater Anglia’s First Class carriages could be the perfect solution.
What do you get with a First Class ticket?
Our First Class carriages on the London to Norwich route offer:
- Spacious seating area
- A table at every seat
- More leg room
- Free WiFi
- Complimentary refreshments Monday to Friday*
- Lavazza Filter Coffee – Freshly brewed on board
- Tea – Yorkshire Tea, Earl Grey, Green Tea or Peppermint
- Cold – Still water
- Snacks – Selection of biscuits or pretzels
*Some early services from London and late services from Norwich may not offer a cafe or trolley service. Please check the timetable for the relevant refreshment symbols.
During the transition period to our new Intercity trains, commuter-type trains may operate some other Intercity services at short notice.
When there is weekend engineering work on the route between London and Norwich, all or part of the rail leg of the journey may be operated by commuter-type stock without table seats or refreshments. Availability of First Class Advance tickets may be restricted because of the limited First Class accommodation on these trains.
First Class Off-Peak Returns
Treat yourself to a First Class journey at an off-peak fare. Greater Anglia's First Class Off-Peak tickets are available from most stations outside Greater London to London Liverpool Street and Stratford and also for certain intermediate journeys. This does not just mean the Norwich main line - First Class Off-Peak Day Returns are also available to and from many stations on, for example, the Cambridge, Southend Victoria, Clacton and Braintree lines.
For shorter journeys, First Class Off-Peak tickets are issued as Day Returns and are valid on the date shown on the ticket. These tickets do not have evening peak restrictions returning from London.
For longer journeys between Norfolk and Suffolk and London, First Class Off-Peak Returns are valid to return within one month. To ensure a comfortable journey on our busy main line services, these tickets are not valid to return from London in the evening peak (trains departing 16:29 to 18:34 from Liverpool St and 16:36 to 18:41 from Stratford). These restrictions are lifted during school holiday and half-term periods.
You could upgrade from Standard to First Class for just £10 with a Weekend First upgrade on Intercity mainline services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street. A Weekend First ticket is available on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays and is valid in one direction only. Simply take a First Class seat and the conductor will sell you the upgrade. This ticket is also available at stations and any valid Standard Class ticket can be upgraded.
