Structural damage/works to a building near the railway at Brandon - Service to resume from 2nd April

There is structural damage to the building on platform 1 at Brandon station and it is not safe for us to stop trains there. This affects all trains from Stansted Airport, Cambridge and Ely to Norwich, including East Midlands Railway.

Latest Update

31 March 2023

We are expecting a full service to run to Brandon from the start of service on Sunday 2nd April.

Until the close of service on Saturday, the Rail Replacement bus service is to continue to serve Brandon.

We will update this page and our Twitter @greateranglia as soon as we have more information.

There is also a protected species of bat hibernating within the building itself, which complicates the work. We are working with Natural England on this.

Also, for safety reasons, the footbridge has been closed. To access platform 2, you will need to walk using the main road and the level crossing.

From the car park, turn left on the main road and cross the level crossing, then turn left again to access platform 2.

Please allow plenty of time for your journey.

  • Change at Ely for a replacement bus service direct to Brandon. Buses depart outside the station entrance. Please note that e-scooters, electric bicycles and full size bicycles are not permitted on rail replacement vehicles.
  • OR Remain on the train and travel to Thetford. Change at Thetford for trains back to Brandon. You can use your Greater Anglia ticket on East Midlands Railway services.
  • Travel on a replacement bus service to Thetford and change for trains to Norwich. Buses depart at the top of the station car park road, where it meets Mundford Road (A1065). Please note that e-scooters, electric bicycles and full size bicycles are not permitted on rail replacement vehicles.
  • OR Travel on a train to Ely, from platform 2, and change for train services to Norwich. You can use your Greater Anglia ticket on East Midlands Railway services.
